Millog has received a significant order to design and implement national modifications to K9 Self-Propelled Howitzers to the Finnish Defence Forces

Millog supplies the Finnish Defence Forces with modification work to K9 Self-Propelled Howitzers. The work will be carried out by 2030.

Millog has received a significant order from the Finnish Defence Forces (FDF) to design and implement national modifications to the K9 Thunder SPHs which FDF acquired from Republic of Korea. The new contract is a continuation to the similar order placed in 2017, when the FDF procured modifications for the first batch of the acquired K9 SPHs.

The new contract is worth 8.1 million euros. The order consists of the national modification work of the 155 mm K9 Thunder Self-Propelled Howitzers purchased from Republic of Korea in 2021 and 2022. It includes also maintenance and repair activities, as well as final inspection and complete testing of the systems.

The modification work will be carried out in Finland in 2025–2030. CEO of Millog Rami Harmaala thanks the FDF for their trust. According to Harmaala, the project has been planned carefully in close co-operation with the FDF, taking into account the customer’s needs and requirements.

“With Millog’s modification and maintenance work, the Finnish Defence Forces gets a system that meets exactly their specific needs. The work on the K9s from the initial order is already well underway, and after that we will move on to the new order. During the project, Millog has built a comprehensive maintenance capability and expertise for the system. With it we are able to support the Finnish Defence Forces by safeguarding the operational reliability of the K9 Self-Propelled Howitzers throughout their entire lifecycle”, says Harmaala.
